Media Notes: Spain's Euro U21 Semifinal Win Draws More Than 4 Million Viewers

Spain's 3-1 win over Italy in the semifinals of Euro U21 on Tuesday drew more than 4 million viewers on Spanish network Cuatro, which translated to a market share of 27.2%. The audience peaked with 5.9 million viewers, exceeding the average audience of 4.4 million for the senior national team's recent 2018 World Cup qualifier against Macedonia (AS, 6/29).

The Confederations Cup semifinal match between Portugal and Chile drew an average audience of 1.1 million viewers on TMC in France. The match, which Chile won on penalties, drew a peak audience of 1.6 million. The numbers represent the highest audience for the channel since the start of the tournament (L’ÉQUIPE, 6/29).

Mobile tech company Vogo, in partnership with Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping, announced a partnership with the horse jumping event held from June 30-July 2. The Vogo Sport app will give spectators a multi-camera visual experience of the competition (Vogo).

Twitter partnered with the All England Lawn Tennis Club to livestream its Wimbledon Channel ahead of this year's tournament. Fans will be able to watch a "range of daily content on Twitter from around the grounds, including news, interviews, behind the scenes footage and selected action." The live stream of the Wimbledon Channel "will be accessible through the Wimbledon Twitter channel" (THE DRUM, 6/29).

CBC Sports announced a four-year partnership with FINA to become the exclusive Canadian home to all major int'l FINA competitions through '20, beginning with the 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest from July 15-30 (CBC Sports).

IMG won the global in-flight and in-ship live media rights for the 2018 World Cup, 2019 Women's World Cup and 2017 Confederations Cup, including highlights from all three tournaments. There will be extensive coverage on IMG-owned and operated 24/7 live sports channels Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra (IMG).

Eleven Sports secured a five-year agreement with FIBA to show live exclusive coverage of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup, 2019 FIBA World Cup and 2021 FIBA Asia Cup (Eleven Sports).

Amaury Sport Organisation, the organizer of the Tour de France, announced the introduction of machine learning technologies at this year's race. The race begins in Düsseldorf on Saturday and finishes in Paris on July 23. ASO and Dimension Data are exploring the role of predictive analytics technologies to assess the likelihood of various race scenarios (ASO).
