Marketplace Roundup: Everton Signs Blackwell Global As Forex, Brokerage Partner

EPL side Everton signed a partnership with int'l forex trading and brokerage service Blackwell Global, the club's first forex and brokerage partner. The club agreed to a multi-year partnership, giving Blackwell Global a presence within the stadium on matchdays. The company will also offer Everton-related experiences for supporters and clients (Everton). 

The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) announced the appointment of London-based The Sports Consultancy as the exclusive rights marketing agent to support the sale of the sponsorship rights for the 2019 UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire. In addition to the rights marketing sales, the firm will consult around rights valuation, aligning target sponsors and the sales narrative (UCI). 

Cycling team UAE Team Emirates brought on new sponsor First Abu Dhabi Bank "two days ahead of the Tour de France." The deal begins at the Tour de France, though "the length of the partnership was not disclosed." FAB's logo was "added to the chest and side of the team's jersey" (CYCLING NEWS, 6/29).

A-League side Melbourne City and Etihad Airways formed a partnership to develop youth leaders around the world who are tackling social issues in their communities. The Cityzens Giving Young Leaders Summit welcomed 50 young leaders from City Football Group's global network of community projects to Man City's City Football Academy (Melbourne City). 

Barcelona launched its new away kit for next season. The club unveiled the blue jersey on Thursday, but "fans will have to wait until July 1 until they can get their hands on the Nike kit." There is additional detail on each sleeve, with "Força" written on one side and "Barça" on the other (London DAILY MIRROR, 6/29).

Turkish Basketball League side Fenerbahçe and Dogus Group reached a sponsorship agreement. The club will get €45M ($51.5M) over three seasons (EURO HOOPS, 6/29).

X Blades Sports has become Championship rugby club Doncaster Knights' official kit supplier ahead of the '17-18 season. The three-year deal will see the brand provide new kits plus a range of supporter and leisurewear (RUNNING RUGBY, 6/28).

The Irish Open Tennis Championship announced AIG Insurance as a new sponsor. AIG has a long association with Tennis Ireland and previously sponsored the Irish Davis Cup team (GALWAY BAY FM, 6/29).

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and Spain's CaixaBank renewed their sponsorship agreement through '20. CaixaBank backs Spain's men's and women's national teams and also supports the sport via the Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank, a public 3-on-3 tournament (EP, 6/29).

The Tour de France announced French national gambling operator FDJ as an “official provider” for the race for the next two years. FDJ is also celebrating its cycling team’s 20-year anniversary. The FDJ logo will be present at the start and finish lines, as well as on a caravan that will give away more than 500,000 gifts (bracelets, candies, replica jerseys) to Tour de France patrons along the route (SPORTS MARKETING, 6/26).
