Franchise Notes: Paris St. Germain Academy Raided By French Police

French police raided Paris St. Germain’s academy on Thursday, “acting on a commission by the body responsible for collecting taxes” (URSSAF). The police “carried out identity checks.” The raid is “linked to a dispute" between the club and the URSSAF (L’ÉQUIPE, 6/29).

A second, as yet unnamed, Chinese team reportedly "registered an interest in joining the Formula 1 grid." There is reportedly an interested party from China "other than the business that recently registered with the Companies House in London as 'China F1 Racing Team Limited.'" The report also stated that the team "would link up" with a Spanish F2 team -- Racing Engineering or Campos Racing -- to "help build their Formula 1 business" (FOX SPORTS, 6/28).

A final verdict on Scottish Premiership side Rangers' "big tax case" will be delivered next Wednesday, the Scottish Supreme Court announced. The liquidators of Rangers were "granted leave to appeal to the court" over a ruling that the use of employee benefit trusts broke tax rules. The Supreme Court judges will deliver their binding verdict, which will be screened live on its website on July 5 (BBC, 6/28).

Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez said that he is going to build a "Disney World-style" Real Madrid theme park in Valdebebas, Madrid, at the end of the new presidential term he recently began. He said that it "will not be a simple task." Pérez: "The theme park will be like a Disney World for Real Madrid, which is not easy, but I am going to do it. It will be spectacular, we have what is most important, which is space, and in the best area of Madrid" (LA VANGUARDIA, 6/28).
