Scottish Women Reach First Collective Agreement With SFA To End Dispute

The Scottish FA and the Scotland women's national team "have resolved their dispute over financial, commercial and equality matters," according to the BBC. The team is preparing for Euro 2017, but players "had refused to take part in media or promotional work." The players issued a statement through Professional Footballers' Association Scotland calling the resolution a "historic moment" that puts them on the path to "achieving equality." The SFA said that the deal "contains commercial and operational elements." The players' union said that it is the first collective agreement between the women's national team and the SFA and hailed it as a "major step" in gaining parity with the men's game. The SFA said that the "international player agreement" affected Euro 2017 and the 2019 World Cup qualifiers (BBC, 6/24).
