Former AC Milan and Italy int'l PAOLO MALDINI "qualified for a professional tennis tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour." The 48-year-old, capped 126 times by his country, won a qualifier in Italy with doubles partner STEFANO LANDONIO (BBC, 6/20). ... SERGEY MYLNIKOV, the goalie for the last Soviet Olympic hockey team and the first Russian goalie to play in the NHL, died, aged 58. Mylnikov played every minute for the Soviets at the 1988 Calgary Games, "reportedly in part due to EVGENY BELOSHEIKEN's knee injury." Mylnikov was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques before the '89-90 season and played in 10 games (NBC SPORTS, 6/20). ... TONY DICICCO, who coached the U.S. to the 1999 Women's World Cup title, died, aged 68. His son ANTHONY said on Twitter that his father died on Monday at home with his family. DiCicco became the U.S. coach in '94 and led the team to the Gold Medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (AP, 6/20). ... Tennis champion BORIS BECKER has been "declared bankrupt." Lawyers for the three-time Wimbledon winner pleaded with a bankruptcy court registrar in London on Wednesday for "a last chance" to pay a long-standing debt (London TELEGRAPH, 6/21).
