League Notes: Players Unimpressed With Cricket Australia's Latest Move

Cricket Australia's latest attempt to "end a deadlock in its bitter pay dispute with players" has been met with a "lukewarm" reception. Less than a fortnight before the June 30 deadline for a new memorandum of understanding, CA sent lead negotiator Kevin Roberts around the country to "directly address the players." While CA said on Tuesday that "it remains committed to brokering a new deal by June 30, the players have interpreted the talks as another sign the governing body does not want to reach a compromise" (THE AGE, 6/20).

Singapore will "not be rushed into extending its contract" with Formula 1, the Singapore trade ministry said on Tuesday as negotiations for the night race to continue in the city-state are underway. A ministry spokesperson said, "Negotiations for the term renewal for F1 is ongoing and a decision has not been reached" (AFP, 6/20).

WADA partially suspended its accreditation of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory as it relates to analysis of specific prohibited substances, effective June 14 for a period of three months. The suspension is a result of WADA's quality assessment procedures that identified non-conformities with best practices (WADA).

Indian police arrested 15 people, "mostly youngsters," in the central state of Madhya Pradesh and "charged them with sedition allegedly for cheering" for the Pakistani cricket team during Sunday's Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy final (XINHUA, 6/20).
