U.S.-Based Dave Cormack Makes Seven-Figure Investment In Scottish Club Aberdeen

Atlanta-based businessman Dave Cormack "hopes he can help to secure fresh investment" from the U.S. to help Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen "achieve more success both domestically and in Europe," according to Danny Law of the Aberdeen PRESS AND JOURNAL. Cormack "joined the Pittodrie board after investing a seven-figure sum in the club." He said, "I am also going to be looking at investment from the United States coming in. There are a lot of people in the States who love to be involved in sports teams. It is about exploring those opportunities." Cormack is "a board director of WebPT and invests in software companies alongside Boston-based Battery Ventures" (PRESS AND JOURNAL, 6/13). In Glasgow, Alasdair Mackenzie reported Cormack led the club as interim CEO from '00-01. Aberdeen-born Cormack sold software company Brightree for $800M last year. He said, "With my background in both business-to business and business-to consumer marketing, along with an extensive network of influential contacts in the United States, I look forward to working with the management team at AFC to explore some innovative ideas I've seen work stateside, to attracting American investment into the Club, and to seeking out strategic partnerships that will help AFC maximize its potential" (HERALD SCOTLAND, 6/13). The Scotland DAILY RECORD reported Cormack "is known for his charitable donations." Through his Cormack Family Foundation, which he runs with his wife, Fiona, Cormack donated £10,000 to the AFC Community Trust in '14. He also donated £100,000 to help establish the Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre, which is situated within Aberdeen's Royal Infirmary (DAILY RECORD, 6/13).
