Serie A Side AC Milan Ownership Group Looking To Double Revenues In Five Years

The business plan submitted to UEFA by Serie A side AC Milan has "allegedly been leaked, with aims to more than double revenues in five years," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. The club was taken over by Rossoneri Sport Luxembourg, funded by Yonghong Li and other Chinese investors in April. The new owners "wasted no time in recruiting players." That could see AC Milan "fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules," unless it can prove to UEFA that the "outlay is a realistic way of growing revenues." According to Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the plan is for revenues to rise from €196.2M ($220M) at the end of the '16-17 season to €273M ($306M) at the end of '18. From there, a "big jump" to €426.5M ($478M) is "budgeted for," before a "further rise" to €447.5M ($501.8M) and €486M ($545M) in the following years, culminating in a revenue of €524M ($587.5M) by '22. That would represent more than a 100% increase over five years, "something which UEFA may not deem to be realistic." It is believed that "most of these increases are expected to arrive from the Chinese market" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 6/13).
