Event Notes: Champions League Final Drew Record Number Of Visitors To Cardiff

A record-breaking number of visitors came to Cardiff for the Champions League final, the city council said. A total of 314,264 fans "soaked up the atmosphere" as Real Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 on June 3. The council said that "the footfall outstripped the previous record" of 270,421, when Wales beat France 16-9 at the Six Nations in '12 (BBC, 6/13).

U.S.-based app developer YinzCam reached a deal with Australian ticket company Ticketek for mobile products. The apps will allow YinzCam technology and Ticketek systems "to be integrated with 3-D seat maps and purchasing, among other enhancements" for rugby, Australian rules football, cricket and basketball fans in Australia and New Zealand (PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES, 6/13).

Great Britain will host its first men's Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) World Tour race when the Ride London-Surrey Classic takes place in July. The event, first staged in '13, "boasts the world's richest one-day races," with equal prize money of €100,000 ($112,000) for men and women. The women's Ride London-Surrey Classic was given World Tour status in '16 (BBC, 6/13).
