Perth Real Estate Developers Capitalize On Stadium Renovations

Perth's "hottest real estate" is around redeveloped football grounds, according to Trevor Paddenburg of PERTH NOW. Claremont Oval has been redeveloped and Fremantle Oval, Subiaco Oval and the Western Australian Cricket Association Ground are "likely to be next, combining sport with apartment towers, office and retail space and public transport links as West Australians look to live and work next to stadiums." West Australian Football League club Claremont on Saturday played its first home game at Claremont Oval since '13, "after a massive redevelopment." Land development agency LandCorp is "capitalising on the upgraded oval to open the way for more than 750 new homes in adjoining Claremont on the Park." The West Australian Football Commission said that the template "could be repeated across Perth," securing football's future while "boosting density close to the city, amenities and public transport." Landcorp Metropolitan & Industrial GM John Hackett said that many local football ovals were "underutilized, yet they are located in key inner-city locations, next to public transport and surrounded by high-quality amenity, which makes them perfect places for infill developments" (PERTH NOW, 6/11).
