SMG Canada named NICK DELUCO GM of its Moncton Downtown Centre in New Brunswick, scheduled to open in Sept. '18. DeLuco previously served as assistant GM for SMS-managed Rogers K-Rock Centre in Ontario (SMG). ... FABIO CAPELLO has been appointed as the new head coach of Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, with the 70-year-old replacing the recently-departed CHOI YONG-SOO. Jiangsu announced the appointment of Capello on its official social media account on Sunday. Choi resigned to return to his native South Korea following the club's elimination from the Asian Champions League (ESPN.com, 6/11). ... Former Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen Manager ROGER SCHMIDT was appointed as the new head coach of Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan. Schmidt replaces JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ, who was fired by Beijing at the start of the month. The agreement is for a two-and-a-half-year contract (ESPN.com, 6/11). ... League Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers named club Dir JEFF SHI its chair after approval from club owner Fosun Int'l. Shi, a representative of Fosun, will move to the West Midlands next month to be involved on a "day-to-day basis." He led negotiations on behalf of Fosun, which led to its £45M takeover of Wolverhampton from STEVE MORGAN in July (BBC, 6/10). ... Recently-relegated League Championship side Middlesbrough confirmed former Leeds United Manager GARRY MONK as its new manager. Middlesbrough interviewed several candidates, but Monk "emerged as the club's first choice and will be unveiled on Monday." Monk, 38, left Leeds on May 25 after being unable to "reach an agreement" with new owner ANDREA RADRIZZANI (BBC, 6/9).
