Relegated Premier League Club Sunderland Seeking New Owner

Relegated EPL side Sunderland called in football consultant Keith Harris to "help find a new owner" and the club has "already engaged in positive talks with a prospective German consortium," according to George Caulkin of the LONDON TIMES. Harris has advised on the purchase, sale and investment into many clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City, Fulham, West Ham United and Everton, where he was appointed as a director last October. With Sunderland now outside the Premier League, Harris’ involvement with Everton "is not regarded as a conflict of interest by the football authorities" and he was tasked with securing a buyer by Sunderland Owner Ellis Short. Short is seeking around £110M ($140M) for Sunderland, a figure which includes a "hefty bonus in the event of promotion, retaining their status and other add-ons." Although the process of due diligence "has not begun and there is no guarantee of a successful outcome, there is optimism that a deal could be completed in the next few weeks" (LONDON TIMES, 6/10).
