Media Notes: European VOD Market Worth €4.2B In '17, Report Finds

The European VOD market is worth €4.2B ($4.7B) in '17, according to Italian research company ITMedia Consulting. The firm's new report, "Video On Demand in Europe: 2017-2020," estimated the market will "continue to grow by an average of 17% each year," reaching revenue of €6.7B ($7.5B) in '20. The main markets "are and will remain" France, Germany and the U.K. While constituting 40% of the total population (Western Europe), the three countries will account for 63% of the market for VOD in '17 and 62% in '20 (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 6/8).

Ginx Esports TV will be available across South Africa on DStv. The 24/7 esports and gaming network was initially launched on DStv's "on-the-go" DStv Now service in May and will be available from July 4 on the DStv satellite service to Premium, Extra and Compact customers in South Africa (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 6/7).
