Dhawan Tops Kohli In BCCI Revenue List From Int'l Games In '15-16

Indian cricket Captain Virat Kohli is "among the highest grossers in endorsement deals, but his share of the tax-free spoils from the gross revenue of BCCI" from int'l games in '15-16 is "slightly lower" than that of his Delhi and India teammate, Shikhar Dhawan, according to the PTI. While Dhawan has received Rs 87.76 lakh ($132,000), Kohli has pocketed Rs 83.07 lakh ($125,000), according to information on the BCCI website on payments over Rs 25 lakh ($37,500) made in May. The third highest in this category is Ajinkya Rahane (Rs 81.06 lakh/$122,000) while in joint fourth place are Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma (Rs 73.02 lakh/$110,000 each). The lowest amount has been secured by Varun Aaron (Rs 32.15 lakh/$48,000). The players have also received their match fees for the three home series held last season -- versus New Zealand, England and Australia. Five former women cricketers, including Diana Edulji, who is a member of the Supreme Court-appointed BCCI Committee of Administrators, have received Rs 30 lakh ($45,000) each as a one-time benefit from the BCCI. The other four are Anjum Chopra, Neetu David, Shubhangi Kulkarni and Sudha Shah (PTI, 6/8). The INDIAN EXPRESS reported Kohli became the only Indian among the world's 100 highest-paid athletes in the latest Forbes list. Kohli is ranked 89th with a total pay of $22M that includes $3M from salary and winnings and another $19M from endorsements (INDIAN EXPRESS, 6/8).
