Event Notes: Early Loss In ICC Champions Trophy Could Cost Australia $1.95M

Pride is not "the only thing on the line" ahead of Australia's Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy clash against England at Edgbaston, with A$2.58M ($1.95M) "also at stake." A loss to England in the final pool game "could see the Aussies booted." The winning players get to share A$2.9M ($2.2M), while the reward for not progressing to the finals is just A$120,000 ($90,600) (HERALD SUN, 6/8).

Belfast's Windsor Park is "among seven stadiums under consideration" by UEFA to host the 2019 Super Cup. Stadiums in Albania, France, Kazakhstan, Israel, Poland and Turkey could also host the game between the Champions League and Europa League winners (BBC, 6/7).

The first Chinese-German Football Summit, held this week in Frankfurt, featured an exchange between leading representatives of both countries' FAs as well as Chinese Super League and Bundesliga clubs. The summit was attended by around 200 participants, including roughly 100 guests from China, and followed the agreement signed by the People's Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Germany in Nov. '16 to promote cooperation in the area of football (Bundesliga).
