London-based electric car series Formula E is about to start searching for a title sponsor of its top series and hopes to have one nailed down by the start of the ’18-19 season, CRO Sam Piccione recently told SBD Global. Piccione declined to disclose what the electric open-wheel series will ask, but allowed that it is likely to be in the eight-figure range annually. Piccione said that landing a company to entitle the series has long been a goal of series CEO Alejandro Agag. Piccione, whose series is currently in the midst of its third season, added, “We felt like going through the first few seasons and even Season 4 were not the right time, but Season 5 looks to us to be the right time as we introduce the new battery and chassis and two new teams. It’s definitely something that Alejandro has wanted to do.” The series, which works with U.S.-based SJX Partners on its business development, currently has more than a half dozen official sponsors including Allianz Life Insurance Co., DHL, Qualcomm, Tag Heuer, Visa and Qatar Airways, according to Resource Guide Live.
