League Notes: NBA Commissioner Says Talent Development Must Improve In China

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said that the league "needs a greater focus on developing Chinese basketball talent to elite levels," as Zhou Qi, a '16 second round draft pick of the Houston Rockets, "prepares to join the NBA." Silver said that Zhou is "only the tip of the iceberg for what talent China has to offer the NBA" (AFP, 6/2).

The Pakistan Cricket Board "will not allow its players and coaches to feature in Afghanistan's domestic Twenty20 league next month following a breakdown in relations between their boards in the wake of Wednesday's blast in Kabul." At least 80 people were killed and hundreds wounded in the attack. The Afghanistan Cricket Board "subsequently cancelled all proposed fixtures between the countries" (REUTERS, 6/2).
