Football Notes: Former Guatemala Football Exec Pleads Guilty To Fraud, Conspiracy

Former National Football Federation of Guatemala General Secretary Hector Trujillo "pleaded guilty on Friday to wire fraud and conspiracy charges in the worldwide scandal engulfing the sport." Trujillo, 63, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Pamela Chen in N.Y. "in connection with the U.S. probe into bribery" involving FIFA. Trujillo also agreed to "give up $175,000 in kickbacks," according to an order of forfeiture (REUTERS, 6/2).

J.League side Urawa Reds on Friday filed a letter of protest to the Asian Football Confederation over "aggressive behavior" by players from K League club Jeju United "at the end of and after their encounter at Saitama Stadium." Jeju's unused substitute, Baek Dong Gyu, "charged off the bench and ran the width of the pitch to elbow Reds captain Yuki Abe in the head to spark the on-pitch fight in the dying seconds" (KYODO, 6/2).
