Marketplace Roundup: BCCI Invites Bids For Indian Premier League Title Sponsorship

The BCCI on Wednesday "invited bids for the title sponsorship rights for the Indian Premier League" from '17-22. The decision to invite bidders was made after a meeting of the IPL governing council. The council, with "concurrence from the committee of administrators," also decided that it will invite bids for the IPL's broadcast and digital rights on July 17 for the next five-year period (LIVE MINT, 5/31).

Nike released images of the new match ball that will be used in the Premier League next season. The Nike Ordem V is the 17th Premier League ball to be produced by the American sportswear company since it took over from Mitre as the competition's match ball provider in '01. Nike's new ball will be "available to purchase from June 5" (London TELEGRAPH, 6/1).

Cricket Papua New Guinea extended its sponsorship deal with SP Brewery. The K150,000 ($47,175) deal is "for the support of the two senior national cricket teams -- Hebou PNG Barramundis and the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas" (LOOP SPORTS, 6/1).

League One side Walsall announced a three-year deal with Italian sportswear company Errea. The deal will see Errea become the club's technical kit supplier and produce home and away kits, as well as training wear. The new shirts will launch imminently. Errea was previously the club's kit manufacturer from '97-99 (Walsall).

Ascot Racecourse announced towel manufacturer Christy as its official textiles supplier in a three-year deal. Christy will develop products for use at the racecourse including horse blankets, table linen and towels (Ascot Racecourse).

Watch brand HYT announced it signed French int’l footballer Antoine Griezmann as its new ambassador. Griezmann "will appear in a video ad as well as photographs for HYT." The partnership will also include a "specially designed piece" for Griezmann (LA DEPECHE, 6/1).

Marketing agency Fuse has been appointed by UniCredit to manage the bank’s guest hospitality program at the UEFA Champions League Final. UniCredit will host more than 1,000 guests from 24 markets at the final which takes place in Cardiff on Saturday. The guest program includes the "management of complex logistics including accommodation, transport and ticketing, welcome parties, city tours and dinners for guests" across six different U.K. cities (SPORT INDUSTRY, 6/1).

The Bike Channel appointed specialist women's sport agency We Are Disrupt to assist in delivering the firm's women's cycling strategy. Launched in March by Emma Lax, former Head of Women's Sport and Lifestyle at CSM Sport and Entertainment, We Are Disrupt will "look to develop both the content and commercial avenues linked to women's cycling" (CYCLING INDUSTRY NEWS, 6/1)
