Juventus' 41,500-Seat Home To Be Named Allianz Stadium Until '23

The home of Serie A side Juventus "will be called Allianz Stadium" until '23, according to the AP. Juventus announced the awarding of the naming rights to the German insurance company on Thursday. Financial details of the six-season deal were not revealed. Allianz "already holds naming rights for stadiums or arenas" in Munich, Sydney, London, São Paulo, Vienna and Nice. Juventus, which has won an "unprecedented" six straight Serie A titles in its 41,500-seat stadium, will face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday (AP, 6/1). FOOTBALL ITALIA reported when the new arena was built, the naming rights were sold to a company called Sportfive for €75M, in an "effort to reduce construction costs to the club." For the past six years, the ground has "simply been named Juventus Stadium." A statement from the club said, "The Allianz Stadium logo will be visible inside the stadium, on the north, south and east sides of the ground for television broadcasts, as well as on a number of other entry and access points to the stands" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 6/1).
