A CAPITAL IDEA: Bruin Sports Capital hired SCOTT NOVAK as its head of global communications, where he will oversee internal and external communications for the fast-growing entity. Novak was with Sports Illustrated and parent Time Inc. for the past decade, most recently as SVP, communications & brand development. At Bruin, Novak will lead messaging for Bruin’s portfolio that now includes interests in Italian media and technology outfit Deltatre, experiential marketing agency Engine Shop, venture fund Courtside Ventures and premium hospitality business On Location Experiences (Eric Fisher, SportsBusiness Journal).


Ironman named WILL BROWN VP of global partnerships in Europe. He will start immediately. Brown will be responsible for driving sponsorship and premium activities for all Ironman properties in Europe, including the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 triathlon series, the Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) Velothon cycling series, the Int'l Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series and the UCI Pro Tour Hamburg Cyclassics. Brown spent the last six years with Arsenal, most recently as director for Asia, based in Singapore (Ironman). ... NOEL CURRAN was appointed director general of the European Broadcasting Union and will take over the position at the beginning of September. Curran, who replaces INGRID DELTENRE, is the former director general, managing director of TV and editor of current affairs at Irish national broadcaster RTÉ (EBU) .... IAN LIVINGSTON resigned as director of Scottish Premiership side Celtic and "he will step down from the board" on June 30. Livingston was appointed to the Celtic board in Oct. '07 and chairs the audit committee. He was previously group finance director of Dixons Group and a non-exec director of Ladbrokes. Celtic said that Livingston is "stepping down to focus on his other board commitments" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 5/30). ... National Rugby League side Cronulla Sharks Chair DAMIAN KEOGH resigned from the club board after he was given an 18-month good behavior bond "without conviction" for possessing a prohibited drug. Police alleged they "found a resealable bag of white powder on the 55-year-old in early May after searching him during a drug dog sweep at a pub in Woolloomooloo" (STUFF, 5/30). ... TAMÁS AJÁN was re-elected for a fifth term as president of the Int'l Weightlifting Federation "after defeating main rival ANTONIO URSO." He won with 86 votes to 61 "despite the Urso camp's pre-election confidence that they had enough support to win" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 5/29). ... Agency Rocket Sports Management, set up in '12 by ELTON JOHN and LUKE LLOYD-DAVIES appointed BEN LAMPKIN as managing director following new investors. Lampkin joins from London Marathon Events where he was head of sponsorship, overseeing brand partnerships for its portfolio of mass participation events that includes the London Marathon and RideLondon (SPORT INDUSTRY, 5/30).

COACHES/MANAGERS: PAUL LAMBERT "left his post" as League Championship side Wolverhampton Wolves manager on Tuesday, only six months after "taking over" at the club. Lambert is the third manager at Moulineux since Chinese company Fosun bought the club last summer. (London GUARDIAN, 5/30). The Wolves are expected to name former Portuguese side Porto head coach NUNO ESPÍRITO SANTO as Lambert's replacement as early as Wednesday (SKYSPORTS, 5/30). ... Manager THOMAS TUCHEL left Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund after two years in charge. He took over the club after JÜRGEN KLOPP left for the manager's job at Liverpool (BBC, 5/30). ... Brasileiro side Sport Recife named former Real Madrid and Brazil coach VANDERLEI LUXEMBURGO its manager. The 65-year-old replaced NEY FRANCO, who was sacked last week (XINHUA, 5/30). ... Serie A side AS Roma "parted company" with head coach LUCIANO SPALLETTI after finishing second in the league this season. The announcement "came after Roma beat Genoa 3-2 on Sunday as DIEGO PEROTTI's last-minute winner secured automatic qualification for the Champions League." Spalletti joined Roma for a second spell in Jan. '16 (BBC, 5/30).
