ICC Offer 'Far Less Than What India Deserves,' BCCI Secretary Says

Board of Control for Cricket in India acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary said that the $400M offer presented by the Int'l Cricket Council to India is "far less than what the country deserves," considering the BCCI's "contribution to global cricket revenues," according to ANI. On why he did not agree to a settlement, Chaudhary said, "Because it is far less than what India deserves fairly." Chaudhary said that "the Indian market contributed 70% of the global cricket revenue and, therefore, it was natural for India to get the lion's share." He added, "Why do you forget that a disproportionate share of revenues to cricket comes from India? It's very easy and misleading to say that India is getting a disproportionate share. The facts are that over 70% of cricket's revenue world over comes from the Indian market. That (offer) is not even close to the contribution that India makes" (ANI, 4/30).
