League Notes: Int'l Tennis Hall Of Fame Amends Induction Policies

The Int'l Tennis Hall of Fame "made changes to its induction policies, including a fan vote and automatic ballot inclusion for players who met certain criteria during their careers," it announced on Wednesday. Rather than "needing approval from a nominating committee," players will appear on the ballot starting with the class of '18 "if they have won five major singles titles or three major singles titles with at least 13 weeks" as world No. 1. Fan voting will be "in addition to existing voting groups" (REUTERS, 5/24).

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) said in a statement on Thursday that it is "opposed to a hypothetical second division" of the Spanish Basketball League (ACB) "or other formulas that the ACB could use to resolve an internal conflict between clubs that devalue competitions organized by the FEB" (EFE, 5/25).

Formula 1 teams have been told to change the rear jack points on their cars for "safety reasons" after a recent Formula 4 accident "cost British teenager Billy Monger his legs." FIA Safety Dir Laurent Mekies wrote to the teams ahead of Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix "seeking modifications to the points at which jacks are engaged to raise the back of cars at pitstops" (REUTERS, 5/25).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India "invited applications" for its head coaching position, "sending a reminder to head coach Anil Kumble that he will not get an automatic extension" after his current term expires at the end of the 2017 Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy. Interested candidates can apply by May 31 and will be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (PTI, 5/25).
