Event Notes: Lima, Peru, Hosts Country's First Goalball Event

The first goalball competition held in Peru took place in Lima on Saturday and Sunday, with Colombia, Ecuador and the host nation competing in men's and women's events. With a little more than two years until the 2019 Parapan American Games, the event also served as preparation for the Int'l Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball Americas Regional Championships in São Paulo from Nov. 26-Dec. 3 (Int'l Paralympic Committee).

The World Championships medals that will be won in London this summer "have been revealed, with a shape based on the curves of an athletics track." Symbols of every event are featured on the design, "while the London skyline is included with Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Shard and Big Ben." The "reverse features London Stadium, the championships' venue" (BBC, 5/21).
