Bolton Wanderers Deny Being Issued With Additional Winding-Up Petitions

Promoted League One side Bolton Wanderers "denied" it has "been issued with another two winding-up petitions," according to the BBC. It had been reported that U.K. tax authority HMRC and Special Catering Company handed Bolton winding-up petitions. The club already has a winding-up petition over an unpaid £5M ($6.5M) loan to finance company BluMarble. Bolton said in a statement, "It is important to note that the club and Burnden Leisure have not been issued with any petitions at this moment. Bolton Wanderers is working diligently to resolve this situation. The Burnden Leisure matter is being addressed today. In one of the media reports it has been suggested that the issue with Special Catering Company is still outstanding, however, this matter was settled several months ago." Bolton Chair Ken Anderson said last week, "I've read reports that we're £25 million ($32.2M) in debt but we aren't anywhere near that figure" (BBC, 5/11).
