Australian Football League Side Carlton Loses Major Sponsor CareerOne

Australian Football League side Carlton President Mark LoGiudice "denied the club could be forced to seek financial aid from the AFL following the impending withdrawal" of its major sponsor, CareerOne, the registered training organization chaired by former AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou, according to Caroline Wilson of THE AGE. Demetriou said that he "personally called LoGiudice to inform him that CareerOne could not meet" its '17 sponsorship commitments. He also confirmed that CareerOne "had advised Carlton to look for a new major sponsor." LoGiudice has held talks with Demetriou in recent days and also met CareerOne Managing Dir John Wall in a bid to "clarify the financial situation." LoGiudice confirmed CareerOne -- in the third year of a three-year arrangement worth an estimated A$4.5M ($3.3M) -- had not met all its '17 financial commitments to the club and added that Carlton is now "searching for a new major sponsor" (THE AGE, 5/10).
