Tottenham Chair Daniel Levy told fans the club "may spend a second season at Wembley" if the stadium project is delayed, according to Tom Collomosse of the London EVENING STANDARD. The demolition of White Hart Lane will start the day after the final game at the 118-year-old ground, against ManU on Sunday. Tottenham expects this to "take three months." Tottenham will play home matches at the national stadium in '17-18 before returning to its 61,559-seat arena -- a project costing about £800M ($1.03B) -- for the following campaign. If there is a "slight hold-up in building work, but not enough to merit a second season away," Tottenham "may ask" for early fixtures to be played away from home. Liverpool took a "similar step this term," playing its first three EPL matches away from Anfield while work on its Main Stand was finished (EVENING STANDARD, 5/9).
POPULOUS WINS APPROVAL: ARCHITECTS' JOURNAL's Daniel Kemp reported Populous won approval to add nearly 100 seats to the capacity of Tottenham Hotspur's £800M stadium. Haringey Council "gave the go-ahead for the football club to increase the capacity" from 61,461 to 61,559 and "reconfigure the original seating arrangements." The majority of the new seats "will be housed in the single-tier south stand, which will increase its capacity to 17,500" (ARCHITECTS' JOURNAL, 5/9).
