League Notes: GAA To Revamp Structure Of Hurling Championship

Gaelic Athletics Association President Aogán Ó Fearghaíl revealed that a proposal will be put forward to "revamp the structure of the hurling championship, introducing a round robin format at the provincial stage." After the Super Eights were voted in for the football championship, turning the quarterfinal stage into two groups of four, hurling players and pundits expressed concern that their sport would be "put in the shade" but Ó Fearghaíl revealed that "plans are in place to address those concerns" (Irish INDEPENDENT, 5/7).

A "long-awaited report into an alleged culture of bullying" at British Cycling is expected to be published in the week after the June 8 general election. An investigation started last year. A draft report that criticized the organization was leaked in March. Due to rules preventing publication before an election, the week beginning June 12 is "now targeted" (BBC, 5/4).

The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) announced it notified Italian riders Nicola Ruffoni and Stefano Pirazzi of an adverse analytical finding of GH-releasing peptides in samples collected in the scope of out-of-competition controls on April 25 and 26, respectively. These constitute the first and second AAFs for members of the UCI Professional Continental Team Bardiani CSF within a 12-month period. Therefore, the suspension of the team from 15-45 days will be applied (UCI).
