NBL Club Melbourne United To Take On CBA Team In Nanjing On May 17

National Basketball League club Melbourne United will play a game in China just three days after the Australian Football League clash between Port Adelaide and Gold Coast in Shanghai later this month, according to Roy Ward of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Melbourne United will play a friendly against Chinese Basketball Association club Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing on May 17. The Victorian government and the NBL worked in partnership to set up the game "due to the state's 38-year sister-sister relationship with Jiangsu Province." Melbourne "has not yet signed its full roster" and it is "unclear" which of its players will be available. But the game will be "more about growing the link between the NBL and the CBA," which former Australian coach Brian Goorjian once described as "the AFL if one billion people supported it" (SMH, 5/3).
