Olympic Notes: European Athletics Endorses Paris 2024 Olympics Bid

European Athletics "threw its weight behind" the Paris 2024 Olympics bid, saying on Wednesday that the French capital was the "best possible candidacy for the Games' showcase sport." Paris is bidding along with L.A. for the 2024 Olympics. European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen said in a statement, "It is not just a question of Paris being the sole European candidate and the fact that continental sports organisations should back each other in this respect. European Athletics has looked at both bids and we believe that Paris is the best from an overall perspective and specifically with regards to our sport" (REUTERS, 5/3).

In partnership with the Republic of Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games launched a competition for the design of posters promoting both events. The open call for entries began on Tuesday. The 10 winning designs for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will go on display at a number of museums and art galleries across the country (IOC).
