Football Notes: Celtic Winger Scott Sinclair Alleges Racial Abuse

Scottish Premiership side Celtic footballer Scott Sinclair posted a picture on social media showing the "alleged racist abuse he suffered during Saturday's Old Firm derby." Sinclair posted a "still from footage of the game at Ibrox," in which Celtic beat Rangers 5-1, "apparently showing a man making a monkey gesture." Police are investigating. A spokesperson said, "We are aware of that incident and inquiries are ongoing" (PA, 4/30).

Serie A side Pescara's Sulley Muntari "walked off the pitch in protest when a referee booked him after he claimed he was being racially abused during a league match." The 32-year-old former Ghana midfielder asked Daniele Minelli to stop Sunday's game at Cagliari. But he was "instead booked for dissent" in the 89th minute, prompting the former Portsmouth and Sunderland player to leave the pitch in protest (BBC, 4/30).

Police and fans were injured in clashes during the Tunis, Tunisia, derby between "arch-rivals Club Africain and Esperance Sportive de Tunis" on Sunday. Police "used tear gas following confrontations" with Club Africain supporters at Rades Olympic Stadium (AFP, 5/1).

The Indonesian FA (PSSI) "has had to sanction a player and several clubs" in its top-tier league, Liga 1, and second-tier, Liga 2, "after only two weeks of competition." PSSI's disciplinary commission on Friday handed PSM Makassar player Ferdinand Sinaga a four-match suspension after he punched Ivan Carlos of Persela Lamongan on April 16 during a home match PSM won 3-1 (JAKARTA GLOBE, 5/1).
