Leeds United To Honor Promise To Partially Refund Season-Ticket Holders

League Championship side Leeds United said that it will honor a "promise to partially refund fans who bought season tickets" for '16-17 if the club misses the playoffs, according to James Law of the BBC. Barring a 14-goal swing in the final round of fixtures, Garry Monk's side will finish outside of the top six. Fans who bought a season ticket for the club before the end of May '16 "will get 25% of their money back." The club pledged to give refunds of 50% if it sold 15,000 tickets, but it "did not reach that number." The cost to the club, co-owned by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, is not known, but it is understood that "funds have been ring-fenced to pay back the money" (BBC, 5/1).
