Franchise Notes: League Two Side Leyton Orient Players, Staff Seek Assurances

League Two side Leyton Orient's players and staff "are seeking assurances from the club's directors that they will be paid this month after releasing a statement confirming they have yet to receive their wages for March." League Two's bottom club is "in turmoil and relegation could be confirmed on Saturday," which would bring an end to a 112-year stay in the Football League. The team is on its fifth manager of the season in Omer Riza, has faced a "winding-up petition" -- adjourned last month -- and "controversial" Italian Owner Francesco Becchetti "has gone AWOL" (SKY SPORTS, 4/19).

Porsche "played down claims" it will host Fernando Alonso's "bid for 2018 Le Mans victory." Alonso is "tackling next month's Indy 500, as part of his stated push to win the 'Triple Crown'" of motorsport. Reports said that Porsche's LMP1 project "is what Alonso is targeting for his 2018 Le Mans assault." Porsche Team Principal Andreas Seidl said, "We have six drivers with whom we are very satisfied -- and with whom we are planning for the long term" (GMM, 4/19).
