Franchise Notes: Former Leyton Orient Owner Says He 'Made A Mistake' Selling Club

Former League Two side Leyton Orient Owner Barry Hearn said that he "made a mistake in selling the stricken club" to Francesco Becchetti and "urged the Italian to sell up." Hearn still retains the honorary presidency of Orient, which is "on the brink of dropping out of the Football League after a nightmare season of managerial departures." He said, "Sadly, I sold to the wrong person" (PA, 4/16).

Thousands of pounds worth of games consoles and TVs "were stolen" from League Two side Carlisle United's ground. The equipment was taken overnight on Saturday from the "family zone" in the Pioneer (East) Food Stand (BBC, 4/17).

Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek fans are demanding Chair Mortada Mansour quit "after the club failed to honour a postponed fixture on Sunday." The Egypt FA awarded the points to Al Makasa, which arrived to play the game. Security concerns meant that the game "could not be played as originally planned on Saturday," which is a Christian holiday in Egypt (BBC, 4/17).
