Cadenas, the former coach of the Spanish national team, will coach Argentina through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (CLARÍN, 4/12). ... Northern Ireland Football League Premiership side Ards "secured the services" of COLIN NIXON as manager on a permanent basis for the next two years. Nixon, 38, took over as interim manager in December following the departure of NIALL CURRIE and "steered the club to safety" (BBC, 4/13). ... Algeria appointed LUCAS ALCARAZ as its fourth full-time national football team coach in the last 13 months. The Spaniard was sacked on Monday as the coach of La Liga side Granada. Alcaraz replaced GEORGES LEEKENS, who quit after Algeria was eliminated from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations at the group stage (BBC, 4/13). ... Japan appointed former Argentina national basketball team Manager JULIO LAMAS as its new coach. Lamas last coached Argentina at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain (FIBA).
