Franchise Notes: AC Milan Sale Moving Closer To Completion

The delayed sale of Serie A side AC Milan "moved a step closer to completion after the leader of the group buying the club arrived in the Italian city." Yonghong Li flew in on Wednesday to "complete the purchase of Milan by Rossoneri Sport Investment Luxembourg." The transfer of the final €190M ($201M) -- in addition to the €250M ($265M) deposit already paid and the €180M ($191M) loaned by American fund Elliott Management -- is "expected to arrive during the day, and the sale to be completed Thursday" (AP, 4/12).

Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle Manager Alan Archibald said that the club's plan to build a £4M ($5M) training ground "could help persuade him" to extend his stay at Firhill. Archibald "rejected an approach" from English League One club Shrewsbury Town in October. Although the new facility "could be a several years away, he is relishing the chance to help it take shape." Archibald: "We've got a very good infrastructure here, so I am very happy" (BBC, 4/12).

League Two side Leyton Orient players and staff were told that they will be paid their wages for March on Thursday -- "13 days after the money was due in their accounts." The club, which looks "certain to be relegated" to the National League, "endured" the worst season in its history, with the wages situation the "latest in a long line of problems" (London EVENING STANDARD, 4/12).
