Franchise Notes: McLaren-Honda To Bring 3D Printer To Bahrain GP

At the Bahrain Grand Prix this month, McLaren-Honda Formula 1 will have a "new trackside addition among its engineers and mechanics -- a 3D printer." The F1 team is taking a portable device for the first time to an event, to "give it the capability to produce modified small plastic parts during practices ahead of qualifying sessions and the race." Although McLaren-Honda’s vehicles have had a "limited number of small 3D-printed components for around six years, it is expanding its use of the technology" with machines supplied by U.S.-based Stratasys (FINANCIAL TIMES, 4/7).

Australian Football League side Geelong Cats recorded a new membership record, reaching 52,198 for the first time in club history. The total overtook the previous record of 52,195 set in '16. Club CEO Brian Cook said, "Our target is 57,000 members this year and while reaching a membership record is pleasing, we are firmly focused on the end goal" (Geelong Cats).
