Executive Transactions

League Championship club Norwich City named Huddersfield Town's STUART WEBBER its new sporting director. Huddersfield put Webber "on gardening leave at the end of March after he expressed an interest to leave" and a compensation deal has now been agreed. The 33-year-old, who was Huddersfield's head of football operations, previously worked at Liverpool, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers (BBC, 4/6). ... Seven West Media CEO TIM WORNER "resigned from his position" on the Australian Football League side Sydney Swans board. The move comes after Swans CEO ANDREW IRELAND told a room of female Swans fans on Monday night that he would ask Worner to consider the "appropriateness" of remaining as a director of the club. Worner "came under fire" in December after revelations of an affair with a junior staff member at Seven between '12 and '14. Worner said, "My hope is that by standing down, I can relieve pressure on the Board and the Club and let them concentrate on the business of football, and a successful home and away season in 2017" (THE AGE, 4/6). ... MATTHEW PAVLICH will continue as the Australian Football League Players' Association president for a third year after he was re-elected unopposed at a board meeting on Wednesday. Pavlich will be deputized by Geelong’s PATRICK DANGERFIELD, who has been elevated to VP in place of the recently retired WILL MINSON. In addition to new directors SCOTT PENDLEBURY, DAISY PEARCE, EASTON WOOD, SAM DOCHERTY and PHIL DAVIS, digital strategy consultant and former sports lawyer ANDREW TWAITS also joined the board (AFLPA). ... MICHELLE WEBB joined NFL UK as sponsorship director following a six-year stint with Team GB. Webb has 10 years' experience in sponsorship, commercial marketing and partner management. At Team GB, she was involved in three Olympic Games and helped to generate millions of pounds’ worth of sponsorship deals with brands such as adidas, British Airways, Nissan, DFS and Kellogg’s (NFL UK). ... Argentine first division side Quilmes named CRISTIAN DÍAZ its coach. Quilmes President MARCELO CALELLO announced the news and said that Díaz's first game will be against River Plate on Sunday (CLARÍN, 4/5).
