Anti-immigrant party Alternative for Germany (AfD) on Monday told Bayern Munich captain PHILIPP LAHM, who captained Germany to a World Cup victory in '14, to focus on football, "not politics," after he said "the wrong ones" should not have more power. Germany will hold a general election in September and the AfD is "expected to enter the Bundestag national parliament for the first time." AfD leader GEORG PAZDERSKI said, "Philipp Lahm should look after his football and leave politics to others as much as possible" (REUTERS, 4/3). ... JAUME LLAURADÓ, the former Barcelona ex-VP who served under former club President Joan Gaspart between '00 and '01, died on Sunday at the age of 73. Llauradó, an "active member who was a candidate" in Barcelona's '03 elections, was president of the Forum Samitier, an "active area of Blaugrana debate" (MARCA, 4/3). ... ROGER FEDERER "completed the prestigious 'Sunshine Double' by defeating his arch-rival" RAFAEL NADAL to win the Miami Open, and then "announced he will take an eight-week break from the tour before the French Open." Federer said, "I probably won't play any clay-court events except the French Open. I'm not 24 anymore so things have changed in a big way. I need a rest. My body needs healing" (LONDON TIMES, 4/3).
