South Korea's unification ministry said Monday it "plans to allow North Korea to take part" in the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics if PyeongChang "decides to do so." Gangwon Province Governor Choi Moon-soon said that North Korea on Sunday "expressed its intent to take part" in the Winter Games in PyeongChang and its sub-cities. Seoul's unification ministry said that a "set of U.N. sanctions and punitive measures against North Korea's nuclear program do not ban Pyongyang from taking part in international sports events" (KOREA HERALD, 4/3).
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee launched a new mobile application -- Objectif Paris 2024 -- a platform that encourages the French public to get active and support the Paris 2024 bid. The app, now available to download on both iPhone and Android, allows all users to become "Ambassadors for Paris 2024." To do so, users must complete fitness challenges. The bid synchronizes with participants' smartphones' health tracking systems to monitor fitness levels (Paris 2024 Bid Committee).
