France's Rugby League Taking FFR To Court Over Postponed Matches

France’s National Rugby League (LNR) “decided to attack” the French Rugby Federation (FFR) in front of the country’s Council of State over the Top14 matches that were postponed “during the time of the announced merger between Racing 92 and Stade Français,” according to L’ÉQUIPE. The LNR wanted to postpone the matches between Montpellier-Racing 92 and Castres-Stade Français, but the FFR was “opposed to the decision and will not recognize its validity” (L’ÉQUIPE, 4/3). 20 MINUTES reported in a statement, the LNR said, “The objective of this appeal is to find a quick solution to the uncertainty that is hampering the championship linked to these two matches and to make sure they will be played.” The matches “could have heavy implications” for the playoff qualifications of Montpellier, which sits third, and Castres, which sits fifth (20 MINUTES, 4/3).
