The Int'l Paralympic Committee announced that CHELSEY GOTELL was elected as chair of the IPC Athletes’ Council for the next four years. Gotell, 31, takes over the role of chair from fellow Canadian TODD NICHOLSON, who was elected to the council in '13 (IPC). ... National Rugby League side New Zealand Warriors player KIERAN FORAN had his "phone taken off him by New South Wales police last weekend as he arrived in Australia with his teammates." Warriors Managing Dir JIM DOYLE said that he was not "concerned about the incident." Doyle: "We recently spent more than seven hours meeting with the NRL integrity unit who went through all of Kieran's bank statements, phone records and betting accounts, and he was cleared" (STUFF, 4/2). ... NRL side Wests Tigers is "expected to announce IVAN CLEARY as coach on Monday" after the club's fourth consecutive loss of the season against the Dragons. The Tigers are finalizing the details of their contract with Cleary (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/2).
