Franchise Notes: Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger Says Retirement Like Dying

Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger "repeated his intention to stay in management next season, saying retirement would be like dying." Calls for Wenger to end his 20-year reign at Arsenal "have grown louder" after the club was knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16 for a seventh successive season and lost four of its last five Premier League matches. He said, "I will not retire. Retiring is for young people. For old people retirement is dying" (REUTERS, 4/2).

Scottish Premiership side Celtic "thrashed" Heart of Midlothian 5-0 to win its 48th Scottish title on Sunday. Hearts "had lost only three at home so far this season, but were blown away by the runaway leaders." Celtic is "still unbeaten" (REUTERS, 4/2).

Ferrari
"decided once again" to make reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi available to Sauber for back-to-back race weekends at China and Bahrain. Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport reported if Pascal Wehrlein "can't be ready for the next two races," Giovinazzi is considered the "obvious choice" as his replacement (AUTOWEEK, 3/30).
