Super League Sees Negligible Attendance Growth Across '15-16

Atomic Sport extended its report monitoring attendances versus capacity in rugby league for the 2017 Super League. A review of the '15 and '16 attendance data shows that growth is negligible. The average occupancy at Super League matches in '15 and '16 was just over 54%. Of the 12 Super League teams, half had an average occupancy of over 60% in '16. Leeds Rhinos had a consistently full stadium. In '16, the club enjoyed the highest average attendance of 15,324 and an average occupancy of 74.97%. Average attendance was down 3% from '15. There were two other teams with average occupancy over 70%, Catalans Dragons with 75.11% and Warrington Wolves with 73.61%. They both saw growth from their '15 performances, with the Dragons up 9.26% and the Wolves up 8.79%. Salford Red Devils saw the biggest drop in average occupancy, down 4.89% to 30.21% occupancy. Widnes Vikings also saw a 4.43% decline in average occupancy to 42.27% (Atomic Sport).
