Marketplace Roundup: Uber Riders Get Exclusive ManU Content

Uber riders in 200 cities will "get to view exclusive videos" as part of the company's global partnership with ManU. In the videos, players such as Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will share which teammate they would "most want to take an Uber with and answer personal questions" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 3/17).

Event organizers Relevent Sports and Catalyst Media Group announced six sponsors for the Chinese leg of the Int'l Champions Cup. Kaisa Culture Group will be the strategic match promoter and "take responsibility for ticket distribution." The ICC also secured partnerships with car manufacturer Audi, German organization Der Floor, Emirates Airlines and Chinese company Wuciyuan Herbal Products. Additionally, it agreed to a charitable arrangement with Neo Online (SOCCEREX, 3/17).

Liverpool announced its kits next season "will feature a special commemorative crest" to mark its 125th anniversary. The Merseyside club was formed on March 15, 1892, but birthday celebrations "will not be held until later this year" (London INDEPENDENT, 3/16).

League Championship side Blackburn Rovers announced a partnership with WEC Group Ltd., which became the club's official social media sponsor for the rest of the season. The Lancashire-based firm has a long-standing association with the club, having sponsored the Darwen End Stand from '08-12. The new deal will see the WEC Group logo included on Rovers' Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts (Blackburn Rovers). 

National Rugby League side Sydney Roosters announced poultry producer Steggles reaffirmed its commitment to the club for four seasons. The agreement will take the club's association with Steggles to 12 seasons by the end of '21. Steggles will become the second-longest serving major partner in the Sydney Roosters' 109-year history (Sydney Roosters). 

Freeport Indonesia, the local unit of U.S. mining firm Freeport McMoRan, decided to stop its sponsorship deal with Indonesian Football Championship side Persipura Jayapura, putting the club "at risk of missing this year's competition." Freeport has "ceased exporting its mineral concentrate for more than a month now" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 3/17).

The French Professional Football League (LFP) hired Havas Sports & Entertainment to find a title sponsor for Ligue 1. Havas Chair Stéphane Guerry said, “We are both delighted and proud to be called on for our knowledge and expertise to help the LFP market the most powerful means of communications available in France” (Havas).

Sports retailer Intersport announced it signed a partnership with cycling team Direct Energie for the ’17 season. Intersport will equip all riders and team members with off-course wear (SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS, 3/17).
