Anti-Terrorism Officials To Move Ryder Cup From France If Players Refuse To Play

Anti-terrorism officials have "drawn up a top secret masterplan to move the 2018 Ryder Cup to Scotland if American superstars refuse to play in terror-hit France," according to Musson & Duguid of the SCOTTISH SUN. High-level talks have "already taken place for a shock move" after U.S. officials "expressed fears about the safety of the current venue in Paris." Possible alternatives have been "earmarked" -- but security execs are preparing for '14 host Gleneagles, in Perthshire, "to step in at short notice." A source said, "The plan is in place and ready to go at the request of the Americans." The current venue at Le Golf National’s Albatros Course on the outskirts of the French capital is "just a few miles from Orly, where an Islamic terrorist was shot dead" on Friday after he snatched a gun and attacked a security guard. The source added, "But nothing is confirmed yet. It all depends on what happens with Islamic State and Iraq over the next year and the knock-on effect for mainland Europe. ... The Americans are keeping a very close eye on things." Sources revealed Police Scotland top execs are "involved in contingency planning to move the event," scheduled for Sept. '18 (SCOTTISH SUN, 3/18).
