Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan To Compete In Int'l Champions Cup In Singapore

Chelsea will travel to Singapore to compete in the 2017 Int'l Champions Cup alongside European "heavyweights" Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, according to Teo Teng Kiat of TODAY. After months of speculation, ICC organizers Relevent Sports and Catalyst Media Group confirmed Thursday that the ICC will be held at the 55,000-seat National Stadium from July 25-29. This is the first time the club exhibition preseason tournament will be staged in Southeast Asia since its '13 inception. While "cynics may dismiss" preseason "tours by big football clubs as money-making ventures," CMG President & Chair Patrick Murphy stressed the ICC is "in it for the long run." The tournament will work with Sport Singapore and the FA of Singapore "to contribute to local grassroots and youth development" programs (TODAY, 3/16).
