Media Notes: African Pay-TV Revenue Estimated To Reach $6B By '21

Dataxis predicted African pay-TV revenue for '16 will stand at $4.4B and reach $6B by '21. The data showed that for the year ending '16, the number of pay-TV subscribers in Africa stood at approximately 18.7 million. These represent an "increase of approximately 2 million subscribers compared to the previous year." Out of the 18.7 million subscribers, 14 million are DTH subscribers and the remaining "represent mostly pay DTT with limited cable and IPTV deployments" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 3/14). 

MotoGP rights holder Dorna announced Channel 5 will air highlights from this season’s championship series, "stepping in where ITV left off." The channel has "apparently promised Dorna a primetime Monday night slot" (BIKE SPORT NEWS, 3/15).
