FIA President Jean Todt and JCDecaux co-CEO Jean-Charles Decaux launched the "first worldwide outdoor campaign on road safety." Supported by ambassadors from sport and show business, the #3500LIVES campaign "promotes simple and universal messages to save lives on roads." The campaign "aims to raise awareness and prompt all road users to adopt simple, easily applicable and efficient rules" (EURSPORT, 3/11).
German car and motor sports channel Motorvision TV will "become available" on the cable networks of UPC in Austria and Switzerland in mid-April '17. In total, Motorvision TV will reach 1.8 million cable households "in both countries through the new carriage deals" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 3/13).
Fiji Television Ltd. secured the TV broadcast rights to televise the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. The deal was negotiated with IMG Media. Fiji TV said, "Fiji TV's free to air channel, Fiji One will carry live coverage of all the matches of the RLWC 2017 from October 27 to December 2" (FIJI TIMES, 3/14).
Eurosport made its debut on the eir Vision IPTV platform in Ireland. The addition of Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and Quest Red "follows a long-term agreement" between Discovery Networks UK and Ireland and eir. It means eir Vision will offer Discovery’s full network of channels (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 3/14).
Motorsport Network confirmed that it was underlining its commitment to F1 Racing, with an upgrade of the title across its digital and print editions. The new-look April issue will appear on magazine stands, subscriber doormats and online from this week, offering a preview to F1’s new season (Motorsport).
