FIBA Secretary General PATRICK BAUMANN on Tuesday was appointed as the new chair of the IOC's Evaluation Commission for the 2024 Olympics. Baumann, 49, has been an IOC Member since '07. Over the past decade, he has served as a member of the IOC Evaluation Commissions for the 2008 and 2020 Olympics and was already a member of the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 2024 Games (FIBA). ... ANKE SCHÄFERKORDT "decided to focus on leading Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland." She will be replaced by BERT HABETS as the new co-CEO of RTL Group alongside GUILLAUME DE POSCH. Schäferkordt will leave the group's board of directors and exec committee "at her own request." Schäferkordt's "surprising decision to leave her post could be that she is gearing up to become the new CEO of RTL Group's parent company Bertelsmann." Habets is also expected to join the RTL Group board of directors as exec director on April 19 (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 3/8). ... The Spanish Anti-Doping Agency (AEPSAD) on Thursday named JOSÉ LUIS TERREROS its director. His appointment came after he was recommended for the position by Spanish Superior Sports Council (CSD) President JOSÉ RAMÓN LETE (AS, 3/9). ... Former Gaelic Athletic Association side Galway hurler DAVID COLLINS was named president of the Gaelic Players Association. Collins replaces DERMOT EARLEY, who "stepped down from the role on Wednesday after three years" following his appointment as CEO of the GPA (IRISH TIMES, 3/9). ... League Two side Newport County parted company with Manager GRAHAM WESTLEY. The club is now "expected to put assistant MIKE FLYNN in charge for the rest of this season" (WALES ONLINE, 3/9).
